From infants and toddlers to teenagers! Ask any parents with children how fast they’ve grown and how quickly the years have passed—and how precious those memories are. Especially when preserved by a skilled and experienced portrait specialist. Indeed, our own most valuable possessions over the years have been the professional portraits we’ve created of our own children!
As their children have grown, many of our clients wish they had taken the time to have their children’s portraits taken sooner and more often by a skilled photographer. The best ages for portraits? The first year when changes occur most rapidly, especially 3-6 months when your child is beginning to sit up, and around that first birthday when he or she is standing (sort of!) Another memorable age is around 2 years when your child is walking, talking and responding more, and perhaps around age 3 or 4 when your child’s personality becomes apparent.
Some of our clients schedule sessions on a regular basis to record these growth milestones. Periodically as you child emerges into the teen years and facial characteristics mature, he or she provides priceless opportunities for preserving that special time in their lives. Finally, as they prepare to go off to college, that all-important senior portrait, a milestone that if skillfully created and preserved, will be a memorable heirloom.
Also consider those special occasions for your child’s portrait--a birthday, graduation and especially the holidays. A distinctive children’s portrait displayed on the wall can serve as a treasured and decorative focal point in a room, adding a feeling of pride and warmth to the room. And don’t forget to include Mom and Dad for that occasional family portrait! |
